Issues with Farrakhan

. Because of Farrakhans contrivercial statements, he has not beenin alot of peoples

good grace.

. His views have caused major stirs in issues of race and economic structure.

. Common are the charges of anti semitism that be used toward jews or the homophobic

reation toward gays and lesbians in society.

Farrakhan and his involvement with the Nation of Islam

. While hewas on music related buissiness trip, he was invited and attended the

Nation of Islam Savios day.

. In 1955, he had joined in the nation of Islam and that same time having his name

changed to Louis X.

. After a having to make a choice of fame or religion, he, in a show of loyalty

chose to stay with temple.

. After becoming a full member of the N.O.I. he had his name changed once again by

Elijah Muhammad and declared his lifes devotion to the teachings of his apperant

role model Elijah Muhammad.

. He then began rise up in the ranks of the N.O.I. and after the deprture of Elijah,

assumed a leadership role in the organization.

. He soon became the minister of the Boston Mosque of the Nation Of Islam.

Farrakhan's life from college

. Louis,after graduating from English High, he had attended Boston College.

. However,he was forced to drop out of College after Betsy Ross became pregnant with

his child.

. Once he had left, he became a well known singer and would often be refered to

as "The Charmer".

. His ussual talent was in singing calyso and country music at night clubs in

Boston

. It was 1953 that he married khadijah

childhood

. Raised by just his mother, a native of St. Kitts, Louis and his brother Alvan

learned early the value of work, responsibility and intellectual development.

. Originaly,his alias was that of Walcott

. Having a strong sensitivity to the plight of Black people, his mother engaged her

sons in conversations about the struggle for freedom, justice and equality.

. He was also exposed to many racially progressive material, such as the Crisis

magazine.

. As a child he had attended his neighborhood religious santuary,the Cyprian

Episcopal church

. In his early childhood, he was brought up in the training of the violin and was

given his first violin at the age of six

. When he was at the age of thirteen he was playing with the Boston College

orchestra

. When his fourteenth year on earth came he was involed in competions and became one

of the few African Americans to appear on Ted Mark Original Amateur

. His high school time was spent at both the Boston Latin School and English High
